Finium's Home on a phone: £13,014.00 left on 31 October, November's £16,374.00 beneath it, then Focus and October's Budget, £3,109.00 spent of £4,440.00 planned, with the Home, Budget, Wealth and Explore tabs at the foot.

01Why it matters

For people who already manage their own finances

You already do the work of staying on top of your finances. Finium is built to carry more of it.

Finium holds your accounts, money in and out, plans, assets and debt in one connected model. You can trace important figures back to the records behind them, while Finium takes on more of the repetitive work.

The discipline is yours. More of the routine work can belong to Finium.

Finium’s Budget for October: £13,014.00 left on 31 October, with the figures behind it.

Why this matters

The more intentional you become about your future, the more important a reliable financial picture becomes.

Nobody keeps a budget because they enjoy categorising transactions. You do it because the money is for something. Clearing the debt. A home. A move to another country. Children. A different career. A year of working less. Or simply knowing, with some confidence, what you can and cannot do.

The spreadsheet, the app, the monthly routine: none of it is the point. They are how you make the decisions that matter from what is true, rather than from what you hope is true.

Ambition gives you direction.

Discipline keeps you moving.

Precision is how you know you are still on course.

Finium doesn’t supply the first two. It is built for the third.

02Why it’s hard

  1. Collect
  2. Update
  3. Reconcile
  4. Categorise
  5. Understand
  6. Compare
  7. Adjust
  8. Plan
  9. Repeat
01Collect02Update03Reconcile04Categorise05Understand06Compare07Adjust08Plan09RepeatEvery month,for years

The work behind the picture

Doing it once is easy. Doing it every month, for years, is the real job.

A financial picture you can make decisions from is not a quick look at your balances. It is the result of a routine:

What postponing looks like

None of the steps is hard. What is hard is doing all of them, every month, for years, with whatever attention a busy life leaves you. So the routine gets postponed.

Not abandoned. Postponed.

  • One statement waits.
  • Then two.
  • The spreadsheet is a few weeks behind.
  • The card balance is roughly what you remember it being.

And somewhere in the back of the mind, this:

“I know how to manage my money. I just haven’t updated everything, so right now I’m not completely sure.”

This isn’t a discipline problem. You have the discipline. The problem is a system that asks for the same effort every month, forever. When keeping the numbers current costs too much, they stop being current. And every decision rests on numbers you don’t quite trust.

The Finium loop

Managing money isn’t a report. It’s a loop.

See where you are. Understand how you got there. Plan what comes next. Then see what actually happened, and adjust while there is still time. Finium is built around that loop, with the past, the present and the months ahead in one model.

01 — See

Know where you actually are.

Accounts, assets and debt together, with enough context to know how current the picture is.

Finium’s Wealth: £469,555.00 net worth, from what the Space owns and what it owes.

02 — Understand

Follow what happened.

From plan to actual, from category to transaction, until you reach the records behind the number.

Planactualdifferencetransactions

Food & Groceries opened in Finium on a phone: £196.00 spent of £420.00, and its 2 October payments.

03 — Plan

Decide what comes next.

Plan the months ahead. When life changes, change the plan.

Finium’s Plan for November: £16,374.00 left on 30 November.

04 — See again

Compare the plan with reality.

See where they differ while the month is still happening. Adjust what you do, or adjust the plan.

Finium’s Budget part-way through October: each category’s plan, what was spent, and what is left.

03Why we know it works

Why Finium exists

15years

The spreadsheet worked. The problem was the work required to keep it working.

For around 15 years, we ran our finances on a spreadsheet. It wasn’t a hobby. Having a financial picture we trusted helped us get out of debt, move to the UK, buy a home and build savings. It gave us more certainty when we made the big decisions.

So we are not here to tell you spreadsheets are bad. Ours did its job for a decade and a half.

The cost was the routine work. Every month: download the statements, paste the rows, update the balances, fix the categories, check the formulas, roll the plan forward. Valuable enough that we couldn’t afford to stop. Repetitive enough that software should have been doing most of it years ago.

Finium is what we wished we’d had. Keep what made the spreadsheet worth the effort: the flexibility, the visibility, the ability to inspect and correct anything, the planning. Move more of the machinery into software.

What we did about it

The control of a spreadsheet, inside a real financial model, with less work to keep it current.

The routine becomes: upload the statement you already download, and confirm what Finium worked out. The repetitive work should increasingly belong to the machine. The judgement stays with you.

  • Upload the statement your bank gives you

PDF, CSV or a text file. No bank connection needed. Bank connections are coming.

  • Build the budget the way you think

Your own categories, your own templates, your own rules. Finium learns from what is already there and asks only about the few it is not sure of.

  • As flexible as a spreadsheet

Any payment at any rhythm: weekly, monthly, yearly or once. Change a line and the months ahead update by themselves.

  • Don’t start from a blank page

Plan for me fills a month from your past income and spending. Or bring the plan you already have, as a CSV, a PDF or a photo.

  • Everything is linked

Your car is an asset. The car finance is a debt, secured on the car. Finium links the two.

    1. Carasset
    2. Car financedebt
  • More than a budget

Budget and transactions are the first step. Your accounts, assets and debts are already in the same model, and Home is where you see it all at a glance. More of your financial life will follow.

  • Share with the people who share your finances

Be part of as many Spaces as you like, and invite as many people as you need. No extra charge per person.

  • You pay for Finium. That’s the whole business model

No cashback deals, no adverts, no selling your data.

  • Change anything, like a cell in a spreadsheet

Correct a category. Delete a row. Export your data, or delete all of it.

Finium’s Budget with Food & Groceries opened: £420.00 planned, £196.00 spent, £224.00 left, and the 2 payments behind it.
  1. Plan£420.00
  2. Actual£196.00
  3. Difference£224.00 left

It doesn’t remove the work of keeping your finances current. It reduces it, and each new version is meant to take on more.

Why you can trust it

A number you can’t trace is a number you can’t trust.

Important values keep their context: when they were recorded and where they came from. Totals and other calculated figures lead back to the records behind them. And what Finium doesn’t know stays missing, instead of quietly becoming zero.

  • Every value carries its date

The date it was recorded, not the date you looked at it.

  • Every value names its source

A statement, or a record you typed. When Finium isn’t sure of a category, it asks you.

  • Missing stays missing

What Finium doesn’t know is shown as Not set, never zero.

  • Planned and actual stay apart

What you planned and what happened are two separate figures.

Where nothing was given, the record says so.

It stays that way until you, or a document you upload, fill it in.

A mortgage record in Finium, where the monthly payment and what secures it read Add: nothing was given yet.

Every percentage shows the total behind it.

Money moved between your own accounts isn’t counted as spending.

Early

You’re early enough to influence what Finium becomes.

Finium is new. We understand the problem because we lived with it for 15 years. We don’t believe we already know the best way to solve every part of it.

  1. 01

    Where Finium still creates work.

  2. 02

What sends you back to your spreadsheet or another app.

  3. 03

Where Finium doesn’t fit the way you actually manage your money.

We’ll share our thinking while there is still room to change it, ask for your view before a decision is final, and tell you what changed and why. You’re paying for Finium as it is today, and being early means you help shape what it becomes.

Questions, answered plainly

The things people ask before trusting a product with their financial life.

What is Finium?

A financial workspace for people who already manage their own finances. It holds your accounts, money in and out, plans, assets and debt in one connected model, reads your statements into it, and carries more of the repetitive work of keeping it current. It is not a bank, a lender or an investment platform.

Do I have to give up my spreadsheet?

No. You don't need to change your system overnight. Start with Finium alongside what you already use and see which parts of the job it can take over. If something still sends you back to your spreadsheet, we want to know.

How much work is it each month?

Less than a spreadsheet, but not nothing. You download statements from your bank and upload them. Finium reads them, chooses categories and asks you about the ones it isn’t sure of. Balances you type in yourself are yours to update.

Do I need to connect my bank?

No. Finium works from the statements and financial records you add yourself. Read-only bank connections switch on at 100 paying customers, and the count towards that is on this page. Until then you add statements yourself.

What can I upload?

Bank and card statements — CSV, TXT, PDF, PNG or JPEG. Finium reads each statement into the account you choose and tells you what it found: how many transactions were added, how many were skipped, and the few that need a moment.

Which currencies does Finium support?

You choose one base currency for your Space when you set it up — any of about 150 currencies — and your financial picture is brought together in it. Accounts and records can be held in any of them too, and each amount shows its own decimals: none for yen, two for pounds, three for Kuwaiti dinar. The base currency cannot be changed after your Space is set up.

Can I use Finium with someone else?

Yes. Invite another person into a shared Space from Settings and you both work from the same financial information and plans. Everyone in a Space can see and change everything in it.

Can Finium move my money?

No. Finium cannot make payments, transfer money or act on any account. It reads the financial information you give it and organises it.

Is Finium financial advice?

No. Finium helps you organise your financial information, understand where you stand and plan what comes next. It does not recommend financial products and it does not make decisions for you.

What happens after the free trial?

Your 14-day trial is free and needs no card, so nothing is charged when it ends. Your financial information stays in Finium. When you want to carry on, you start a subscription: £13.99 a month or £139.90 a year. You can subscribe at any time and continue from where you stopped.

Can I export or delete my data?

Yes. Export your data at any time from Settings. You can delete individual records, and the last member of a Space can delete it and everything in it from its settings. Your data is never sold to advertisers and is never used to train foundation models.

  • Fifteen years on a spreadsheet before Finium
  • Reads CSV, TXT, PDF and screenshots
  • Asks when it isn’t sure of a category
  • Missing stays Not set, never zero
  • Can’t move your money
